Welcome to the new cricket season. There have been a number of changes since the last season with Kevin ‘Skinny’ Joseph retiring as President, Mark Whenan becoming the new President, Richard Press handing over the A grade captaincy and the B grade moving up to Section 2 which will be great for the club.
Training for all senior grades will commence on Fathers Day, 7th of September 2008, at 10am. We would like to see as many people out there getting rid of the cobwebs and all new players are welcome.

On behalf of the Western Youth Centre we would like to congratulate Robbie Hopkins on taking out the coveted Hewett Medal for the Best and Fairest of the Adelaide and Suburban Association in Section 1.
Robert polled 20 votes to be a clear winner by 9 votes infront of Robbie Drenthen (Mitchell Park) and Michael Ledgard (ICC Sharks) who were both on 11.
Robert polled in 8 out of a possible 11 games including 5 best on grounds, 2 seconds and a third best on ground. This is a testament to Robbies great consistency throughout the year.
Well done Robert Hopkins on winning the 2007/2008 Hewett Medal.

CONGRATULATIONS to Jeff Worrall on becoming Western Youth Centre’s highest run scorer. With Jeff’s inning of 58 not out last match against St George, he surpassed the previous record of 6499 runs held by another “Legend” of the Club in Steve “Twang” Bailey. Jeff’s achievement, at the young age of 59, is testament to his durability and obvious love of the game.
We look forward to Jeff reconditioning his wheelchair and continuing for a few more years.
CAREER - Started 82/83
215 games (approx), 25 Wickets, 101 Catches , 124 (Highest Score)

Welcome to the Western Youth Centre Cricket Club’s new website. We are in the process of adding information for members and visitors. Come back regularly for the latest news and match reports.
With the unavailability of a number of players from last season this presents an exciting opportunity for fringe players to step up and ensure a successful season for the club.
Good Luck to all the Teams.
I would like to encourage everyone to support our Social Functions and our major Sponsors, Hilton Hotel, with your attendance back there especially after playing on Saturdays. With the renovations nearing completion I am sure you will all enjoy yourselves.
Finally a big Thank You to all our Sponsors for your support in the upcoming season and we lookforward to a mutually successful partnership.
